Dr. Tannis Rode grew up in Three Hills, Alberta. She completed a Biology degree at the University of Calgary, before entering the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo. In addition to the comprehensive University of Waterloo Optometry Degree program, Dr. Rode gained valuable experience from an externship at an ophthalmology centre in Texas (Houston Eye Associates), where she received training on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of ocular diseases. She graduated with honours in 2014. Following graduation, Dr. Rode spent two years working in south-western Ontario, before returning to her home province of Alberta.
Dr. Rode is committed to providing each of her patients with an exceptional eyecare experience. She has a variety of clinical interests, including children’s vision, dry eye treatment and humanitarian eyecare outreach. She has participated in eyecare charity projects in Peru, Mexico, and Honduras. In her spare time, Dr. Rode enjoys exploring the great Canadian outdoors, playing the piano and reading.
Message to patients: Healthy vision is one of the greatest gifts we have. All children should have a thorough eye examination before starting kindergarten, and regular eye check-ups should be maintained throughout life. I am pleased to be providing eyecare in my home town of Three Hills!
I have experienced first-hand the positive impact optometry can make! I got my first glasses in grade 4, and have been wearing corrective lenses ever since. We rely on our vision every waking moment of our lives. I knew I wanted to select a career in healt hcare and optometry was the perfect fit.
My husband and I enjoy hiking and travelling. I read a lot of non - fiction books. I am also part of a strategy board games league.
I like cats and bird - watching.
I consulted my husband, and he said “playing spikeball, winning board games, and neurotic cleaning :) ”
Lord of the Rings, Tangled, and the Marvel movies.
My favorite travel destination is anywhere with a National Park because I love hiking and beautiful scenery. Two of my favorites are Yosemite and Zion National Parks.
I wish to see a wild platypus.
I’m good at removing metal from eyes. Many people don’t realize that optometrists are trained to deal with eye emergencies and infections, and we can usually schedule you in a lot quicker than a medical centre.
