Dr. Ryan Kloepfer

Dr. Ryan Kloepfer joined the My Optometrist Calgary group of practices in 2009 and has been a partner since 2011. He evenly divides his time between Health First Optometry and Sunridge Vision Centre.
Dr. Kloepfer is a 2006 graduate of the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo, where he graduated with clinical and academic Honours. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. While in optometry school, Dr. Kloepfer spent summers working in a vision sciences lab where the research was focused on the areas of visual system development in children and in sports vision. He also played varsity baseball while at the University of Waterloo, and to this day remains enthusiastic about playing sports himself and seeing patients who are seeking vision solutions to elevate their athletic performance.
His optometric training was furthered by completing an ocular disease and therapeutics rotation at the Houston Eye Associates, a full-scope ophthalmology clinic in Houston, Texas. He also gained valuable clinical experience working in Goderich, Ontario, a rural practice setting and Dr. Kloepfer’s hometown.
Dr. Kloepfer continues to welcome all patients. He enjoys the practice of comprehensive optometry and has also developed keen interests in the areas of complex contact lens fitting, the treatment of dry eye disease and other corneal pathologies, and the link between nutrition and eye health. He also enjoys clinical instruction and has acted as a mentor and preceptor to several doctors-in-training. He has also been commissioned to lecture and present on behalf of several companies in the eye care space. Away from the office, Dr. Kloepfer is committed to giving back and has participated in eye care projects in Costa Rica and Malawi. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends and is an avid cyclist, runner, and golfer.
