Optos
Your retina (located in the back of your eye) is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that eye conditions, as well as stroke, heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes can also be seen in the retina. Early signs of these conditions can show on your retina long before you notice any changes to your vision or feel pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting an optomap image is fast, painless, and comfortable. Nothing touches your eye at any time. It is suitable for the whole family. To have the exam, you simply look into the device one eye at a time (like looking through a keyhole) and you will see a flash of light to let you know the image of your retina has been taken. The image capture takes less than a half-second and they are available immediately for you to see your own retina. You see exactly what your eye care practitioner sees - even in a 3D animation. See http://www.optomap.com/optomap-screening/ for further information.

Ortho-K lenses are typically used to correct myopia (nearsightedness) in adults and children, but can also be used to correct mild astigmatism and hyperopia in certain cases.

The goal for ortho-k treatment is to correct your vision to at least 20/40 visual acuity or better without the assistance of glasses or contacts. Some patients may start to see clearer after a day or two of overnight ortho-k. However, for higher prescriptions, it may take up to two weeks or more for optimal correction.

After wearing the ortho-k lenses, you should be able to see clearly without the use of glasses or contact lenses for as long as a day or two. Some patients experience clearer vision for much longer.

Most patients with mild to moderate myopia (with or without mild astigmatism) are good candidates for ortho-k. Children and young adults who may be too young or ineligible for LASIK or refractive surgery are also eligible for ortho-k.
