This summer I am cycling the Airdrie to Olds two-day ride to change the future of MS. As an Optometrist, I often see changes in vision and eye health because of Multiple Sclerosis. Often sudden vision loss can be the first sign of MS. This complex neurological condition can affect many parts of the body, and with many degrees of severity.

I am blessed to LOVE cycling and to be able to contribute to a great cause. Not to mention enjoying the awesome weekend with cycling mates as we venture two days and a couple of hundred kilometres! Our goal is at least 89 kilometres on day one and 67 kilometres on day two!
Training time is essential in preparing for the ride, and with that comes numerous cycling adventures around Southern Alberta. Whether it be gravel touring around Okotoks and Dewinton, fun coffee rides to High River or Bragg Creek, or elevation rides from Canmore to Banff or the Highwood pass, I love them all! The scenery, fresh air and exercise make it all worthwhile.
Over 90,000 Canadians live with MS and the need for information, resources, and support programs for them is as urgent and critical as ever. While Canada has one of the highest rates of MS globally, we are also home to some of the world’s top MS researchers, whose work is at risk of not continuing due to the economic crisis. My fundraising for MS Bike will help support their groundbreaking work into treatments and ultimately a cure.
