Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive test that uses light waves to obtain cross-sectional images of the retina, the thin light-sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye. These images allow each of the retina’s layers to be seen and measured by your eye care professional. Evaluating the thickness of these layers helps with diagnosing and monitoring eye diseases such as glaucoma and other diseases of the optic nerve, diabetic retinopathy, and macular conditions like macular degeneration and macular edema
